I tell these boys constantly that they may think that we rescued them, but we actually rescued each other!

LISA

Thank you for helping us find a great addition to our family.

CARMEN & DARIN

I am so grateful I took [Silas] home, just wish I would have done it sooner! Thank you for all you do for these animals.

COVID-19 SHELTER UPDATE

Effective June 1st, 2020:

HSL will be open for adoptions and in-person visits by appointment only.  Please contact the shelter at (218) 847-0511 to make arrangements. Those scheduled for an appointment will be required to wear a mask, and will be asked to wear other protective needs such as gloves and utilizing hand sanitizer as requested.

HSL will remain closed to community members without an appointment confirmed in advance by shelter staff. We encourage all interested adopters to view available animals on our website: https://humanesocietyofthelakes.org. Through our website, you can learn about our animals, the adoption process, and even apply for an animal you are interested in!

Volunteers who are 18 years and older and who have already completed volunteer orientation will be able to resume volunteering for scheduled shifts starting June 1st. Please contact the shelter at (218) 847-0511 or email the shelter manager at hslsheltermanager@gmail.com to schedule a time to volunteer. At this time, we cannot guarantee scheduling availability, but we are eager to assist our amazing volunteers however we can! We deeply appreciate our volunteers and thank you for your continued service and understanding.

If you locate a stray or lost animal, you are encouraged to contact us! We will do the best we can to care for these animals as capacity allows. If you are interested in acting as a foster, please complete a Foster Application found on our website and staff will contact you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued patience and support during this time. We are very appreciative of all the support we have received through letters, donations, photos, and so much more. If you have any questions, please contact us at (218) 847-0511 or by email at humanesocietyofthelakes@gmail.com
