March 26, 2020
The Humane Society of the Lakes (HSL) would like to give a public update of our operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like so many others, HLS has had to modify our volunteer, foster and adoption programs to ensure staff and community safety. With the new guidelines set by our governing bodies, HSL has made the tough decision to temporarily close to the public beginning Saturday, March 28, 2020. With this decision, HSL has some implemented the following procedures that will begin Friday close of business:
HSL will not be utilizing any of our amazing volunteers as we will be keeping minimal staffing
HSL will not be conducting any adoptions or scheduled appointments
HSL will not be seeking any new foster homes
HSL will not be taking any new animals or strays
HSL is fully committed to the community and the animals we serve. We are all working as hard as possible to ensure every animal is taken care of and has the best outcome possible. HSL will still have staff taking care of all animals in residence and will make sure all basic needs are met and exceeded. We will continue to keep the public updated during this ever-changing time.
If you would like to support HSL while at home, here are some ideas the animals would love:
Create homemade videos for us to show the animals to keep them entertained
Our animals love looking beautiful and would love some fun home-sewed clothes
New toys/treats or supplies that can be sent via Amazon through our wish list

Monetary donations to help supplement our loss of revenue while closed to the public
While we remain closed for an undetermined amount of time, we would like to bring the shelter to you. These next few weeks will be hard for all of us, but we want to make sure everyone can stay in touch with HSL and the animals in residence. Keep a lookout for videos posted of the animals and how they are coping with COVID-19 changes.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to HSL. Please stay safe during this uncertain time.
