Helping Find their Furever Homes

Hi…my name is Lynne and I am a foster mom for cats and kittens. Being a second generation animal lover and rescuer, it seemed natural to be a foster as well. I happily volunteered to be a foster for Humane Society of the Lakes. On May 18th my adventure began. On that day, I began fostering a young momma tabby, Abigail (Abby) and her four babies. Sadly, one kitten passed shortly thereafter. One week later, I lost a second kitten. At that point, Greta and Rue began their visits with Dr. Charly at Red Barn Veterinary. Greta began twice daily IV fluid treatments. Rue also received a limited amount of treatments. Thankfully under the excellent care of Dr Charly and her team, the kittens recuperated from what was diagnosed as an acute gastro-intestinal virus. They are now thriving, healthy little kittens who amuse and entertain me on a daily basis. Momma Abby is a wonderful and loving cat and has been a wonderful cat to her kittens. I so enjoy being a foster. It’s emotional to send them on their way, but, that means that they will soon find their forever home. Despite the losses, I realize that I helped save these kittens and their momma. It is truly heartwarming when they find their forever home. Fostering is a wonderful, rewarding experience. If this very tender hearted animal lover can do it, anyone can.
